Setsu Niseko

Location just outside of town was perfect, it was off season so was lovely and quiet. The hotel was immaculate and you could easily spend a day lounging around looking at their art and local history literature. Utterly fascinating and with a view to knock your socks off.

The entire compound is elegantly decorated in a modern Japanese style. The spacious apartment room boasts top-notch appliances, and a large bay window offers a breathtaking view of Mount Yotei in the background. The two full bathrooms are generously sized and equipped with modern amenities. My wife particularly enjoys the tatami room, which provides a convenient space for her floor exercises. All doors feature soft door closers, eliminating any abrupt door-closing sounds. Convenient parking spaces are available in the basement, although there’s an additional fee. Apart from the large and well-equipped public onsen, they also offer private onsen facilities for families. Breakfast was excellent with Japanese and international food.

The staff were fantastic: friendly, helpful, always with a smile. Loved the onsite facilities (onsen, gym, restaurants). The breakfast was exceptional, with plenty of variety, and was delicious, to boot. The suite had everything you could ask for: full kitchen, washer/dryer combo, free excellent tea. There was even a "treasure" hunt to get to know the hotel better, at the end of which you get a prize (a free cookie) - simple but fun.

This holiday at the Setsu was a birthday present for my wife, who works hard in the medical field. We were not disappointed and in fact pleasantly surprised at this new hotel in Hirafu. The hotel service was outstanding and the room was beautifully designed with numerous extra appliances (washing machine, dishwasher) that my wife loved. This hotel challenges the five-star Park Hyatt in quality of stay, yet charges half the rates of that top-ranked hotel. The staff kindly wrote a a personal birthday card for her, and a birthday cake waiting in the refrigerator. We were touched by the personal service. Later I met the hotel manager, Ms. Tomata, to express my appreciation. Finally, the private onsen, public onsen, yoga classes and workout gym were a luxury bonus that we enjoyed.

Excellent customer services, great design, and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, except a separate dryer would have been excellent. The location is great and easy to get around, easy access to amenities and snow activities. Breakfast was good with quality using produce although variety maybe slightly lacking. Onsen was great and the underground parking although comes with a fee of ¥2000 was worth it without having to clear the snow and the car was ready to go.
